Looked at numerous flatware sets on-line and in-store (Target, Macy's, Nordstroms, BB&B) and this clearly deserves the center podium for a gold medal for everyday flatware. Even at the retail price of $250-$300 (<$25/place setting when considering the 5-piece hostess service) it would be worth the purchase. I prefer heavy-weight flatware versus light and dainty, and this fits the bill. The 5-piece hostess service was equally impressive. The flatware chest was surprisingly nice as I expected something considerably inferior since it appeared to be a "give-away." Each piece was individually wrapped in a plastic sleeve to preserve the lustrous finish. When inventorying the set upon arrival, it was missing one teaspoon, and in its place was a "rogue" spoon that matched the Andover Pearl pattern, but did not match anything else in terms of spoon style (teaspoon, tablespoon, service spoons). I sent an email to Reed & Barton, and they responded within 24 hours with no questions asked. They offered to ship the replacement spoon and did not request that the "rogue" spoon be returned. The replacement spoon arrived within 5 days. Reed & Barton Customer Service did not ask for any forms to be filled out or other onerous "hoops" to be jumped through. They said that their primary concern was that the set be complete to retain a satisfied customer. After several weeks of daily use with hand-washing and Bosch dishwashing (Finish Turbo Dry), they still shine like new.
